At Barn Life Recovery, we believe that mental health care should honor the unique story and needs of every individual. Our Costa Mesa center is more than a treatment facility—it’s a supportive community where people from all walks of life can find tailored support, compassionate guidance, and real healing.

Whether you’re a new mother, a dedicated healthcare worker, a first responder, or an educator, we understand the challenges you face and are here to help you reconnect with balance, strength, and hope. Explore our specialty programs below to discover how Barn Life Recovery can walk alongside you on your path to well-being.

Why Specialized Mental Health Services Matter

Everyone’s mental health journey is different, and some challenges are shaped by our roles, experiences, and the pressures we face in daily life. Mothers, healthcare professionals, first responders, and educators each carry unique burdens—and often, they’re expected to keep going no matter what. That’s why one-size-fits-all solutions rarely lead to true healing.

Specialized mental health services acknowledge these differences and provide care that meets you where you are. At Barn Life Recovery, we create treatment tracks tailored for the realities and stressors of your life.

Our programs typically last 30 to 120 days, giving you the time and space needed to move beyond survival mode and toward lasting wellness. Whether you need help processing trauma, managing burnout, or simply feeling more like yourself again, our team is here to walk beside you with expertise and empathy every step of the way.

Navigating HIPAA and Confidentiality with Workplaces

Taking the step to seek mental health or addiction support can bring up concerns about privacy—especially when it comes to your employer. At Barn Life Recovery, your privacy is protected by law. Understanding your rights and how to communicate with your workplace can give you peace of mind as you focus on your healing journey.

Upon admission we will assign you a case manager who will work one-on-one with you to get all of your ducks in a row so that you can get the help you need, free of the stress of a workplace.

Key legal protections and tips for navigating workplace conversations:

  • HIPAA Protection: Your treatment information is protected by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Your employer cannot access your health records without your written consent.
  • FMLA and ADA Rights: If you need time off for treatment, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) offer legal protections for qualifying mental health conditions.
  • Confidential Communication: You do not need to disclose your diagnosis or specific details to your employer. You can simply state that you are taking leave for a medical condition.
  • Coordinating with HR: If you choose to involve your Human Resources department, ask about Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) or mental health benefits that may provide additional support.
  • Written Documentation: When requesting leave, use documentation provided by your healthcare team. It will state only what is necessary to secure your time off or accommodations—without sharing your personal health information.
  • Support From Our Team: Barn Life Recovery staff are experienced in helping clients navigate work-related paperwork and conversations. We can provide guidance, documentation, and advocacy every step of the way.

Remember, your health and privacy come first. Reaching out for help is an act of strength, and you have legal rights to protect your confidentiality at work.

Barn Life is uniquely special. As someone who has had long stretches of sobriety with "traditional" communities and methods, Barn Life stepped in when I started struggling during the pandemic and said "traditional" methods failed to help. The staff here are exceptional. This is a truly subjective statement, but it is my honest opinion that the people from the owner (Hi Matt!) to EVERYONE else works there because they believe in the work and want to share the tools they found.Barn Life and their little sibling, Peer Mental Wellness were the launchpad from a shell of an existence to person with self-love/respect, and a life-mission of personal development.

Barn life is probably one of the most amazing facilities you could ever attend when it comes to mental illness. This was the first place that popped up when I was searching for help and I’m so thankful that it did. The environment is very therapeutic, the staff is awesome, and the group discussions and activities were so helpful in me understanding what I was experiencing. Do not hesitate to be a part of this place. It’s literally a game changer. I was only there for 6 weeks but I wished I stayed at least 6 months. Ever since returning home, I’ve been much happier and my perspective has changed dramatically. I’ve done things and participated in events at my college that I never thought I would be able to do. This place is truly amazing and I’m forever grateful that I found this place.

My daughter has been at Barn Life Recovery now for two months. It was my last resort to send her 9 hours away from me. She has been in drug and mental health rehabs in and out for two years. This was my last stitch effort to save my daughter and get her back to herself. Alyssa and I spoke multiple times before deciding. Their willingness to do everything for her and the different teams they have work with them is amazing. My daughter is happy again and clean and sober. She loves it there in their outpatient program. They restore your faith in humanity. They help restore someone who is broken in so many places to themselves. They have put the light back in my daughters eyes. They are committed to helping each person who truly wants the help. They assist in helping them get jobs and be responsible members of society. I recommend their program to anyone wanting to recover from drug, alcohol and mental health.Thank you to all the people at Barn Life who have made my daughter smile and bring the light back to her eyes. I am truly grateful.DawnaLee
