Comprehensive Mental Health Treatment as Unique as You

Barn Life goes beyond the standards of mental health treatment through a comprehensive and individualized treatment plan that targets both mental and physical imbalances in the body. We believe that the mind cannot effectively heal without healing the body.

Underlying health issues can manifest in mental disorders and worsen over time if left untreated. For us to be effective in helping our participants achieve long-lasting mental wellness, we’ve incorporated the use of holistic modalities that have been practiced for thousands of years.

Barn Life‘s use of kinesiology and medical QiGong modalities are non invasive, personalized, and effective for the relief of immediate symptoms that present as barriers to receiving therapy. These services are offered on a regular, ongoing basis and are coordinated with our clinical team to overcome more challenging barriers to progress. Its healing modalities have been found to restore balance to physical, mental and spiritual deficits.

Our mental health approach is uniquely tailored to the individual. Unlike other programs, we believe well-being can only be achieved through healing the body, the mind, and the spiritual body.

QiGong Modalities

  • Medical QiGong

Medical Qigong is a form of ancient Chinese medicine that is based on the belief that all disease is caused by energetic disruptions, which are then mended through these practices. Working together as a clinical team, we utilize medical qigong strategies to intervene during mental health emergencies and as a supplement to traditional treatment models.

Some of our techniques include prescription exercises, meditations, breathing techniques, and muscle testing.

  • Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves the use of small needles on specific points of the body to improve qi flow and release tension. Other similar methods we use include acupressure, moxa burning, and cupping.

  • Herbology and Dietetics

Herbs and herbal remedies can have significant benefits for mental health. Our herbal and nutritional education includes the use of herbs, teas, oils, balms, and compress powder.

  • Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is great for the body and for the mind. We utilize a number of disciplines to produce the ideal results, such as tissue manipulation & traumatology and channel point therapy.

Individual & Group Therapy

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Learn skills to improve mood and handle stress by shining a positive, yet realistic, light on difficult and challenging situations. During both individual and group CBT sessions, we discuss how to train and reframe thoughts to create a most positive internal environment.

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Develop life skills to feel intense emotions like anger and sadness while remaining centered, nonreactive and mindful. Participate in both individual and group sessions to build emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal skills.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Learn to accept the difficult-to-control thoughts, feelings and memories then identify personal values and commit to exploring a life that is true to them.

  • Behavioral Activation Group (BA/BT)

BA/BT proves to improve mood by highlighting the positive. Rebuild the awe and joy in life by engage in enjoyable activities that reinforce social skills.

Grief & Trauma Therapy

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy

EMDR therapy works to heal trauma-related wounds on an expedited timeline. Using this clinically-backed treatment modality, our therapists guide you to access, process and recover from traumatic life events.

  • Narrative Therapy

Using stories in individual and group therapy lessens the magnitude of suffering for our clients. As the storyteller, you connect to traumatic events, explore alternative expressions of trauma then identify how these situations explain your thoughts and behavior.

  • Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy focuses on unconscious processes as they are manifested in present behavior. The goal of psychodynamic therapy is self-awareness and understanding of the influence of the past on present behavior.

  • Introspection Group Therapy

Immersing clients in mindfulness practice, our introspection group asks you to conduct a personal reflection on a weekly theme. Past themes include Tai Chi, The Chakras, What is Respect, and so much more!

Holistic Approaches to Therapy

  • Mindfulness Group

Mindfulness is the process of learning to be present in the moment by observing internal experiences (thoughts & bodily sensations) and external experiences (interactions with others) in a nonjudgmental way.

  • Yoga

The foundation of yoga aims to mindfully move one’s body slowly and methodically through poses that heighten or quell certain thought patterns and emotional processes. However, when dealing with psychological illnesses, yoga simply helps one stay grounded in the present moment.

  • Sound Healing

This ancient meditative practice helps reduce stress and improves mental health by incorporating sound into a meditative practice. From Tibetan singing and quartz crystal bowls to gongs tuned to healing frequencies, sound healing amplifies the present moment and promotes a grounded and centered view of life.

  • Mindfulness CBT

Mindfulness practices play a significant role in helping individuals observe their experiences, increase awareness, and tolerate uncomfortable emotions.

  • Body Centered Therapy

Based on somatic psychology, body-oriented therapies harness the inherent power of sound, touch, movement, and breath to regulate the body & our experience within it.

Barn Life is uniquely special. As someone who has had long stretches of sobriety with "traditional" communities and methods, Barn Life stepped in when I started struggling during the pandemic and said "traditional" methods failed to help. The staff here are exceptional. This is a truly subjective statement, but it is my honest opinion that the people from the owner (Hi Matt!) to EVERYONE else works there because they believe in the work and want to share the tools they found.Barn Life and their little sibling, Peer Mental Wellness were the launchpad from a shell of an existence to person with self-love/respect, and a life-mission of personal development.

Barn life is probably one of the most amazing facilities you could ever attend when it comes to mental illness. This was the first place that popped up when I was searching for help and I’m so thankful that it did. The environment is very therapeutic, the staff is awesome, and the group discussions and activities were so helpful in me understanding what I was experiencing. Do not hesitate to be a part of this place. It’s literally a game changer. I was only there for 6 weeks but I wished I stayed at least 6 months. Ever since returning home, I’ve been much happier and my perspective has changed dramatically. I’ve done things and participated in events at my college that I never thought I would be able to do. This place is truly amazing and I’m forever grateful that I found this place.

My daughter has been at Barn Life Recovery now for two months. It was my last resort to send her 9 hours away from me. She has been in drug and mental health rehabs in and out for two years. This was my last stitch effort to save my daughter and get her back to herself. Alyssa and I spoke multiple times before deciding. Their willingness to do everything for her and the different teams they have work with them is amazing. My daughter is happy again and clean and sober. She loves it there in their outpatient program. They restore your faith in humanity. They help restore someone who is broken in so many places to themselves. They have put the light back in my daughters eyes. They are committed to helping each person who truly wants the help. They assist in helping them get jobs and be responsible members of society. I recommend their program to anyone wanting to recover from drug, alcohol and mental health.Thank you to all the people at Barn Life who have made my daughter smile and bring the light back to her eyes. I am truly grateful.DawnaLee
